THE WAR YEARS
The War Years is a historical topic which covers how life in Britain was affected by WW2.
We begin with pre-war life in the 1930s in which we look at the 'Depression Era. We focus on the Jarrow March and life for working people in this decade. Our art work focuses on Art Deco style and we look at the work of Clarice Cliff and produce our own plates in the same style.
We then move onto the 1940s which was of course dominated by World War Two. We learn about the occupation and the effect it had on the everyday lives of people, particularly children, in Britain. We learn about rationing and the evacuation of children from the cities to the countryside. We also read extracts from the Diary of Anne Frank as a first hand experience from a child's point of view.
We then move onto looking at post-war life and the impact the war had on life for British people.
